History

In the year 1989, May 19, Rev. Moon-Sun Lee accompanied by his wife Mrs. Young-Seon Lee Choi and children, a son, Ku-Yeon Lee, and a daughter, Seong Yeon Lee landed in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. They were from the Presbyterian Church of Korea. Rev. Lee enrolled in the Divinity School at Silliman University and finished his Masters of Theology course, adding to his foundational theological course taken in South Korea.

The visionary Rev. Lee saw a mission field in the faces of Fili¬pino young people. The high cost of college education practical¬ly relegates them to the marginalized sectors. With the help of friends and churches in Korea, Rev. and Mrs. Lee established this mission in the name of the Presbyterian Church (Reformed) in the Philippines Inc. which was registered with the Security and Exchange Commission in 1992.

The Presbyterian Theological College was founded by Rev. Moon-Sun Lee as supported by his faithful wife and two children on June 16, 1995. Their missionary work is mandated and supported by some Korean conser¬vative Protestants of the Reformed Theory Churches.

He went about prospecting for students from among mountain church people and was graciously responded to by eager young people who enrolled in PTCU with one thing in mind – to serve the Lord.

By this time the Presbyterian Theological College & University is offering a unique theological training combined with liberal arts education designed as a 4-year Bachelor of Arts in Theology course, accredited by the Commission on Higher Education.
